Features
Everything the builder does today, in plain English. Each feature is tagged with the plan it comes in. Anything we haven't built yet is listed at the bottom as coming soon.
A real 3D plate
Not a picture with text on top. Each plate is modelled in 3D, at real size, with studio lighting that shows off gel domes and 4D edges.
- Turn, zoom and panDrag with a finger or mouse, pinch or scroll to zoom, double-tap to zoom in. Customers can turn the plate right round.
- Front and rearWhite front and yellow rear plates, one tap apart.
- Close-ups on cuePick a character style and the camera swings in at an angle to show its profile.
- Light on phonesIt only draws while something moves, so an idle builder doesn't drain the battery.
Legal layout as they type
The builder applies UK registration spacing and the Charles Wright characters while the customer types, and tells them if something won't work.
- Automatic spacingCurrent (AB12 CDE), prefix (A123 BCD) and suffix (ABC 123D) regs are spaced for them. Dateless and cherished regs stay as typed.
- Fit checks"This registration doesn't fit a motorbike plate with a badge" appears before they order, not after you've cut it.
- Road legal or show plateA status badge shows which they're getting.
- Your footer on every plateSupplier name, postcode and the BS AU 145e mark, as the standard requires.
The builder helps with BS AU 145e layout. You stay responsible for compliance and for checking customers' documents.
Seven character styles
Each style is modelled in 3D, layer by layer, at its true depth. Every one keeps the character footprint at its legal size, and raised styles cast real shadows on the plate.

Every plate size
- Front and rearStandard 520 × 111 mm, short (cut to fit the reg), hex, Japanese import and US import.
- Rear onlyOversized 533 × 152 mm and 4x4 279 × 203 mm.
- One-plate vehiclesMotorbike 229 × 178 mm, trailer, and white commercial trailer, with 64 mm characters where the size needs them.
- Different front and rear sizesA short front with an oversized rear, for example. Each plate prices its own size, and the order shows both in mm.
Motorbike, trailer and import sizes are printed only for now.

Badges and borders
- UK badgesPrinted, gel in white or blue, or a raised 4D tile.
- EV badgesThe green EV strip printed or in gel, and EV with UK.
- BordersBlack, 1, 2 or 3 mm, printed inside the plate edge.
- Smart about sizesThe camera zooms onto the badge as it's picked, and a badge that doesn't suit a new size clears itself.
See it on a car
One tap puts both plates on a car, with six paint colours to choose from. Customers can turn the car right round.
The demo uses the built-in sports saloon. More car models are coming.

An app-like builder on phones
On phones the builder fills the screen like an app. The plate stays pinned at the top and the options come as cards underneath.
- Step cardsReg and style, plate size, badge, border, add-ons. Swipe or tap Next.
- Progress bar and sticky buy barThe total and the next button stay at the bottom, and the keyboard never covers them.
- Back worksThe app bar's arrow and the phone's own back button both close the builder.
On Starter, the builder sits in the page on phones instead.

- The builder on your shop page StarterOn Starter, the full builder is your one-page shop. On Pro and Complete it also gets its own Design Your Plates page in your menu.
- Links with the reg filled in StarterAdd ?reg=AB12CDE to a link from an ad or a "search your reg" box and the builder opens with it.
- Builder on product pages ProYour plate products show the builder where the old options form was, starting on that product's style, size and badge. A Design in 3D / Classic switch lets customers choose.
- Floating button ProA "Design in 3D" button in the corner of other pages.
- Landing-page and category promos CompleteA "Design your plates in 3D" section on your home and landing pages, and promos on category pages.
Checkout inside the builder
After add-ons, the builder turns into your real WooCommerce checkout, so every payment method, delivery rule and check works exactly as it does now.
- Apple Pay and Google PayThrough Stripe, shown under Proceed to checkout and Place order.
- Delivery or collect in storeYour WooCommerce shipping options, including collection.
- KlarnaHands off to Klarna if you offer it through your payment set-up.
- Order confirmationCustomers see their confirmation without leaving the builder.
Proof of ID and entitlement
As a registered supplier you must see one proof of ID and one proof of entitlement before handing over road-legal plates. The builder builds that into checkout. Show plates skip it.
- Upload now or send laterA photo or PDF of each document at checkout, or send them by email, WhatsApp, post or at collection.
- Real file checksJPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or PDF up to 10 MB, checked by their contents, not just the file name.
- Awaiting documents statusPaid orders that need documents wait here instead of Processing, and still count as paid in your reports.
- Staff check panelStaff open the documents through private links, record what they saw and move the order on. Who checked it, and when, is saved on the order.
- Private and tidyFiles are never in the media library, and they're deleted automatically after a set time.
In-store fitting
Fitting is an add-on in the builder. Choosing it sets the order to collection, and the builder shows the fitting charge as "added at checkout".
The fitting charge and delivery choice cards at checkout are set up for each shop; a packaged version is coming soon.
